Take My Wife – Please!

Posted on: March 4, 2009

A long-running joke from comedian Henry Youngman, the “Take my wife — please!” isn’t much of a referral on the qualities of the wife in question.

Which is the exact opposite of the mission of Make a Referral Week 09, a creation of Duct Tape Marketing author John Jantsch. Jantsch aims to generate 1,000 referrals for small businesses from March 9-13, 2009. Through word-of-mouth, blog entries, messages on Twitter, and connections on LinkedIn, Facebook or other social networking sites, the idea is to help promote a small business that you’ve had a positive experience with.

Here’s how Jantsch describes it: make a referral week

“Make a Referral Week is an entrepreneurial approach to stimulating the small business economy one referred business at a time. The goal for the week is to generate 1,000 referred leads to 1,000 deserving small businesses in an effort to highlight the impact of a simple action that could blossom into millions of dollars in new business. Small business is the lifeblood and job-creating engine of the economy and merits the positive attention so often saved for corporate bailout stories.”

So what are you waiting for? Visit the Make a Referral Week 09 site, pledge your support, and start referring!
